Jake, a US Marine, has been on a nonstop roller coaster ride in the Middle East for over a decade. While on a medical leave seeking help for PTSD he snaps and abducts a woman thinking it will be the remedy plaguing his thoughts. The woman, Liz, witnesses his hallucinations, night terrors and anxieties and quickly becomes sympathetic to his plight. A relationship between the two begins to flourish

This is my 4 star review for Hasty Resolution by Sam Taylor Mullens for Eskimo Princess Book Reviews.
Hasty Resolution is about Liz, an unhappy, teacher, wife, and mother of three. She is beautiful but she has let herself go over the past couple years because she has settled into her boring life. She has recently been going through some health issues to top everything else off. When she is out walking early one Sunday morning she come upon a good looking man packing up crates of crops from a local farm. What will happen when she is kidnapped by that same man? Will she be able to handle what life has in store for her?
Jake, is a US Marine. He has been struggling with hallucinations, night terrors, and very bad PTSD. He had to be pulled from active duty until he could get his head on straight. He has a very good heart and loves being a Marine. He is very good at his job but he can’t seem to get his PTSD under control. The only thing he can think about is the beautiful blonde haired beauty with the piercing blue eyes. He sees her everywhere; in his dreams, in his hallucinations, in his nightmare. When he makes a hasty decision to kidnap the woman of his dreams he instantly regrets putting her through that. Will he be able to let her go once he has her in his home? Will she turn against him and run?
I thought that this was an unusual story, but it was worth it. The story line may not be the norm for most of us, but it works. We get to see Liz transform into a strong, determined, happily loved woman. She is able to help Jake like nothing else ever has. I loved the way that he helped her right back. These two leading characters show us that love can be found under the most unusual situations. It definitely makes you think about how having true love and happiness can change a person. We get Jake, Liz, and Mike, Liz’s husbands POV. While I loved Jake and Liz, I really couldn’t stand Mike. He was a jerk and didn’t deserve his wife or the children they shared. I can’t imagine a husband being so unfazed by his wife’s disappearance.
If you are looking for a unique love story this one would be a great choice. I know sometimes life isn’t easy and we like to stick with what is familiar but it never hurts to step out of our comfort zone every once in a while. I look forward to reading more about Jake and Liz in Hold You Again, a Hasty Resolution Novella.
